When you use Gatherin, we collect information you provide directly and some data generated automatically through your use of the platform:

Account information — your email address, username, and profile details (display name, avatar, bio)
Content — posts, questions, replies, and comments you create in spaces
Usage data — pages visited, features used, and interactions such as votes and space joins
Technical data — IP address, browser type, and device information for security and diagnostics

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account
Operate and improve the platform, including search and recommendations
Send important account notifications (e.g. email verification, password resets)
Enforce our Terms of Service and keep the community safe
Diagnose bugs and improve reliability

We do not use your content to train AI or machine learning models without your explicit consent.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

Gatherin uses session cookies and browser local storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can clear cookies through your browser settings at any time, which will log you out.

4. Public Content

Posts and content you publish in public spaces are visible to anyone on the internet. Hidden spaces are not available for search, but anyone who knows the link can see the content. If a space is set to private by its creator, only members of that space can see its content. Your display name and profile are also public, email address is not.

In each space, you can choose a display name applicable to that space. That name is used to serve the context within that space, not to hide your global identity. It's possible that other users may still recognize you in other spaces based on your activity or content.

6. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No system is completely immune to risk — please use a strong, unique password for your Gatherin account.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you by email or through the platform.
